The Costume Designer is the character's second skin — responsible for the clothing, accessories, and personal effects that define who a person is before they speak a word of dialogue. On an independent film, costume design is often underestimated and over-stretched simultaneously. We look for designers who can build a coherent visual language for each character across a whole film, manage a costume budget with rigour, and work collaboratively with the director and PD to create a world that is visually consistent and emotionally true.

FAQ
Do costume designers at Indie Matter also manage the costume standby function?
On smaller productions, yes. On features, we aim to have a dedicated costume standby on set.
What is the typical costume budget on an Indie Matter production?
It varies per project and is discussed openly with the costume designer during prep.
Do you require period drama experience?
Not specifically — we develop projects across a range of settings. The relevant experience depends on the project in question.
