The Role

The composer creates the emotional architecture of a film that cannot be achieved through image or dialogue alone. On an independent production, the composer works closely with the director and editor to understand the emotional language of the cut, then develops a score that deepens the film's thematic resonance without announcing itself. We are interested in composers who have a distinct compositional voice, who can write with restraint and with scale as the film demands, and who understand that the best film music serves the story invisibly.

FAQ

At what stage of post-production do you bring on the composer?

Ideally during the edit, so the composer can follow the film's development. Formal spotting sessions happen at picture lock.

Do you work with composers who also produce and perform their scores?

Yes — self-contained composers who can deliver production-ready stems are particularly useful on independent budgets.

Are composers expected to hold music rights or do they assign them to the production?

All music rights arrangements are agreed contractually before work begins. We discuss terms openly at the start of each engagement.
