The Role

The Production Manager runs the production office and manages the logistics that keep a film moving: crew deals, facilities, equipment rentals, travel, accommodation, and the thousand small decisions that never make the screen but without which nothing would. On an indie production, the PM often operates with less support than they would on a larger project, which means resourcefulness and clarity of communication are essential. A great PM at Indie Matter is someone who is meticulous without being bureaucratic, and decisive without being inflexible.

FAQ

Does the PM role at Indie Matter overlap with the line producer?

On very small productions, yes. On larger projects, the PM and LP have distinct responsibilities, with the PM focused on day-to-day logistics.

Do you require PM experience specifically in film rather than TV?

Film experience is preferred, but strong TV drama PM experience is considered equivalent.

Are PMs expected to be on set during production?

The PM is typically office-based during production, with set visits as required.
