The Location Manager finds, secures, and manages every place the film shoots outside of a studio. On an independent production, the location manager is one of the most resource-intensive roles on the crew — negotiating access agreements, managing local authorities and residents, sourcing unit bases, and ensuring that every location is left exactly as it was found. The right location can transform a scene; the wrong one can cripple it. We look for location managers who are resourceful finders, expert negotiators, and consummate diplomats with local communities and property owners.

FAQ
Do location managers at Indie Matter also manage the location scout team?
Yes — the location manager leads the scouting process and manages any location assistants or scouts engaged for the production.
How early in pre-production is the location manager brought on?
As early as possible — location scouting takes significant time and early engagement avoids costly late decisions.
Do you primarily shoot on location or in studio at Indie Matter?
Primarily on location. We use found and dressed locations as the basis for our visual worlds.
