The Role

The Stunt Coordinator designs and manages all physical action sequences that carry an element of risk beyond normal performance — falls, fights, vehicle work, fire, and any other controlled danger on set. On an independent film, the stunt coordinator is hired for specific sequences and works closely with the director, 1st AD, and actors to design action that is safe, achievable, and serves the story. The safety of cast and crew is the absolute priority, and the best stunt coordinators bring both creative problem-solving and rigorous risk assessment to every sequence.

FAQ

Do Indie Matter productions frequently involve stunt work?

It is project-dependent. When stunt work is required, we engage a qualified stunt coordinator from the earliest stage of pre-production.

Does the stunt coordinator also provide stunt performers?

Yes — the coordinator typically recommends and manages the stunt performers engaged for specific sequences.

How early should a stunt coordinator be brought in during prep?

As early as possible — ideally at the start of pre-production to advise on design, budget, and scheduling.
